JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITIONS: English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructors

SERIES & GRADE: 1701-09 (Federal Civil Service)

LOCATION: Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas

SALARY: $33,024 per year

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time (40 hours a week), long-term

Note: Employees assigned to these positions will be required to sign a mobility agreement as a condition of employment; i.e., DLIELC may require employees to serve overseas for a period of time.

DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to plan and conduct classroom instruction of ESL; to evaluate student performance; to advise the unit supervisor on the placement and training needs of students; to adapt and develop instructional materials; and to make professional recommendations for improvement of training materials, student administration, and training program management. Employee must be a native speaker or equivalent and be free of speech impediments.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in one of the following disciplines:

English as a Second Language (ESL), Bilingual/Bicultural Education, English Foreign Language, Linguistics Education Speech.

OR

Undergraduate degree in one of the above listed disciplines AND one year of professional level ESL teaching experience (high school level and above)

OR

24 semester hours of undergraduate courses equivalent to a major in one of the above stated disciplines AND one year of professional level ESL teaching experience (high school level and above).
