The Defense Language
Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) is responsible for
the Defense English Language Program. DLIELC conducts the English
Language training program at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, to
prepare international military and civilian students under
the sponsorship of the Security Assistance Training Program (SATP)
for entry into technical training courses conducted by the US
military departments.
DLIELC is also responsible for
providing English language training materials requisitioned
by foreign military department through SATP channels. The
American Language Course (ALC) materials are developed by DLIELC curriculum specialists.
The materials can be obtained from DLIELC under provisions of the International
Military Education and Training procedures,
Foreign Military Sales, and private
sector sales. Additionally, other
US Government agencies can requisition these materials
The ALC materials
are primarily used to conduct both intensive and nonintensive
English language training in foreign countries or at DLIELC. At
DLIELC, small classrooms, equipped with the latest in training
technology, are specifically designed to support student-centered
instruction. In addition, the DLIELC curriculum meets the diverse
needs of the adult military population with courses that address
the specific language requirements of international military students'
career fields. All materials are sold on a non-returnable basis.
