Catalog of Materials, Courses, and Support

The Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) is responsible for the Defense English Language Program. DLIELC conducts the English Language training program at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, to prepare international military and civilian students under the sponsorship of the Security Assistance Training Program (SATP) for entry into technical training courses conducted by the US military departments.

DLIELC is also responsible for providing English language training materials requisitioned by foreign military department through SATP channels. The American Language Course (ALC) materials are developed by DLIELC curriculum specialists. The materials can be obtained from DLIELC under provisions of the International Military Education and Training procedures, Foreign Military Sales, and private sector sales. Additionally, other US Government agencies can requisition these materials.

The ALC materials are primarily used to conduct both intensive and nonintensive English language training in foreign countries or at DLIELC. At DLIELC, small classrooms, equipped with the latest in training technology, are specifically designed to support student-centered instruction. In addition, the DLIELC curriculum meets the diverse needs of the adult military population with courses that address the specific language requirements of international military students' career fields. All materials are sold on a non-returnable basis.

In addition to training materials, a description of English Language Traning (ELT) Courses offered at Lackland and a description of the Support for overseas English Language training Programs--which is available from DLIELC--are available from this online catalog web site. Ordering information can also be found at this site.
