Standardization and Evaluations
(LEV)
The Standardization and Evaluations Division provides guidance, theory, and philosophy to ensure institutional competencies are met.
The Division’s tasks are to evaluate and standardize the processes involved in planning, developing, implementing, and managing of the United States’ Defense English Language Program.
In the realm of Standardization, Division personnel review all Institute and higher level policies and regulations ensuring they meet users’ needs throughout. Review of policies and regulations requires expertise in areas ranging from instructional system design to security assistance programming.
The Evaluations mission is even more multifaceted. Evaluation of our programs requires expertise not only in instructional design but in media, computer hardware and software, video, interactive systems, cognitive learning theory, and vastly complex content areas. The scope of the expertise requires a team of experts from any one of several backgrounds.
Programs and feedback instruments used to evaluate institutional competencies are :
Internal Reviews
Field Evaluation Visits (FEVs)
Site Evaluation Visits (SEVs)
Self-Inspection Programs (SIPs)
Student Comments program
End-of-Course Surveys (EOCS)
English Language Preparedness Survey (ELPS)
It is clear that English language training and education will always have to adapt to changing environments and political situations. These concerns have become cornerstones of the FOT Outreach Program and the AFSO 21 Program both facilitated though the Standardization and Evaluations Division.
