FIELD STUDIES (LEF)

DoD FIELD STUDIES PROGRAM

The Field Studies Program is designed to assist the international military student in acquiring a balance understanding of the United States society, institutions, and goals in addition to the students private homes, local industries, industrial and cultural exhibits, farms, schools, historical points of interest and civic activities. The program is conducted with frank explanation and free discussions of the following: US Government structure, judicial system, political party system, role of a free press and other communication media, minority programs, the role of labor unions, US economic system, educational institutions, and American family and community life including religious institutions, environmental protection and public and social welfare.

DIVISION GOAL

Ensure that international students return to their homelands with an understanding of the responsibility of governments, military and citizens to protect, preserve, and respect the rights of every individiual.

PROGRAM EMPHASIS

  • Internationally Recognized Human Rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • The democratic Ideals of an Elected Government and Effective Civili-Military Relations which Reinforce that Elected Government
  • The Roles and Inter-relationships of a Culturally, Ethnically, Economically, and Socially Diverse Population in a Democratic Society
  • US Free Enterprise System and its Role in a Democratic Society
